There is a nationwide drive to highlight the benefits of volunteering to everyone in the UK. Contractors and freelancers currently looking for their next role have been advised by the PCG that volunteering could enhance their CV, whilst also develop their skills.
According to Justin Davis Smith, Chief Executive of Volunteering England, undertaking such activities can be an effective way of boosting a CV. Among the advantages of helping others, he said it can help “keep you healthy and develop skills”.
Mr Davis added that short-term or micro-volunteering has become more popular due to the increased demands on people’s time, yielding the possibility of a short-term stint.
Volunteering has also been recommended for boosting your emotional and physical health. 95% of people who volunteered in the past year believe it improves their emotional health. In addition, 84% of respondents claimed volunteering is good for boosting physical health.
