There is a wealth of highly skilled engineers in the UK looking for work and the PCG have highlighted that these talented engineers could be best suited to contract roles for engineering firms across the country.
Whilst a lot of engineers recognise the benefits of working as a contractor, engineering firms themselves still seem hesitant to recruit them. The PCG believe it is important for a firm to understand how to effectively manage a contractor/client relationship and know how to get the best out of the contractor and freelance workforce.
It has been claimed that engineering firms which successfully integrate contractors and freelance workers stand the greatest chance of success in the current business climate.
John Brazier, managing director of PCG, commented that freelancers are helping the UK economy to grow in challenging times.
“The UK boasts many talented engineers who are offering flexibility to companies, helping them manage risk and unlock innovation and talent within their business. I believe that trend is set to grow as Britain will increasingly rely on freelance engineers to get the job done.”
In other news, demand for IT contractors is set to increase as IT jobs on a contract basis, will be more in demand than permanent IT roles for the rest of 2010.
