Sir Alan Sugar believes the thriving, can-do enterprise culture in Britain is part of what makes it a great place to do business. He goes on to say that Global Entrepreneurship Week is important because it inspires a whole new generation of budding entrepreneurs to turn their ideas into reality.
Enterprise Week has been running in the UK since 2004. Last year, it became part of a wider global movement – Global Entrepreneurship Week, which took place in 77 countries. This year, the aim is to emphasise the global nature of enterprise and entrepreneurship.
Doug Richard, who was one of the business experts questioned in compiling a report by the British Library’s Business & IP Centre, said tax relief was the best way to provide incentives to aspiring entrepreneurs.
Mark Prisk, Shadow Business Minister comments that enterprise should be promoted all year long rather than during one single week.
The Telegraph adds that the last 18 months have been torrid for first-time entrepreneurs. People are still setting up businesses in large numbers, but the majority are doing so because they have to; they need to generate money, rather than following any grand vision of turning a great idea into a sustainable business.
